Job Purpose: The School Receptionist acts as the first point of contact for all visitors to the school, including parents, staff, and pupils. As the 'face' of the school, the post-holder is required to provide a welcoming, courteous, and professional reception service at all times, ensuring that the school is represented in a consistently positive and professional manner. The role requires an organised and efficient individual with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and work flexibly in response to the needs of the school. The successful candidate must demonstrate a proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to manage a wide range of enquiries and interactions effectively, while maintaining a high level of professionalism, discretion, and composure in all circumstances. Responsibilities & Duties: As the first point of contact for all visitors to the school, this role requires the following duties:
- Provide a welcoming, courteous, and professional reception service at all times, ensuring the school is represented consistently positively.
- Organise and manage a wide range of enquiries, interactions, calls, emails, and visitors, prioritising tasks to meet the needs of the school.
- Support a range of administrative duties, maintaining accurate records and organisational tasks efficiently.
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and composure in all circumstances, including handling challenging, sensitive, or demanding situations with resilience and assertiveness.
- Manage competing demands and work flexibly in response to the needs of the school.
Qualifications & Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging conversations confidently. Resilient and emotionally intelligent, with a professional and composed approach. Able to manage difficult or demanding interactions in a firm but courteous manner. Highly organised with good attention to detail. Strong IT skills and experience with maintaining accurate records.
