Job Purpose: To ensure the efficient and effective repair, servicing and maintenance of the fleet vehicles/plant and equipment, capable of responding to all service and management requirements, whilst ensuring operational compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific

  • To maintain service and repair the fleet vehicles/plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, Health and Safety requirements and Ministry of Transport Regulations.
  • Maintain all documentation requirements and electronic systems.
  • Ensure that the Workshops, surrounding areas and all its facilities are maintained in a clean safe condition, ensuring compliance with health and Safety standards and Industry Regulations.
  • Ensure that all vehicles, plant and operational equipment are maintained in a timely manner to ensure best practice.
  • Liaise with service users to ensure maximisation of service delivery and meet all deadlines.
  • The ability to work both as part of a team and under own initiative.
  • Assess accident damage to vehicles/plant/equipment, advising on method of repair where appropriate.
  • Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be requested.
  • To work within all environments to ensure service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities – Corporate

  • To be responsible for establishing good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Compliance with the Authority’s Policies and Procedures and to make known to Senior Officers any areas which are not adequately covered.
  • To participate actively in supporting the Authority’s principles and practices of equality of opportunity as laid down within the Equalities Policy.
  • To be responsible for the application of Health & Safety practices within the daily operations, sharing a common responsibility for Health & Safety across the department, directorate and Authority as a whole.

  • Ability to operate LGV/Heavy Plant diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of English
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh
  • Supervisory qualification (NEBSS) or equivalent
  • Undertake works to ensure cost effective best practice
  • To undertake works as part of a team and under own initiative
  • The ability to undertake highly technical and skilled disciplines within industry practices
  • To produce technical reports within service delivery area
  • The ability to produce working systems that maximise output and assist in implementation
