An opportunity has arisen for a Planning Officer to join the Development Management team. The post holder will be dealing with minor planning applications and the main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Processing planning (and related) applications, including preparation of case officer/committee reports.
  • To prepare appeal questionnaires and planning appeal statements.
  • To provide planning advice to the public, Members and developers etc via our pre-application advice service and the daily duty officer phone line.

The successful candidate will work as part of a small but enthusiastic team and will be required to contribute positively to the delivery of planning services in the Borough. What you’ll need:

  • Candidates should have a Degree or equivalent in Town Planning or a related discipline, and have knowledge of the Planning System, in particular Development Management.
  • Candidates should also have excellent communication skills both oral and written and be computer literate.
  • The ability to travel throughout the county is also an essential requirement of the post.
