Responsibilities
- Display effective classroom organisation and behaviour management skills.
- Have experience of teaching within Early Years and/or Foundation Learning.
- Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences with high expectations.
- Use observation‑led assessment to support and monitor pupil progress.
- Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
- Work effectively using own initiative and as part of a team.
- Meet the requirements of the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership.
- Support or lead an Area of Learning and Experience (Ao LE).
- Provide an inclusive, trauma‑informed learning environment that values equity, equality and positive relationships.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
- Reliable, resilient, flexible and proactive.
- Strong understanding of child development, wellbeing and nurture.
- Experience of designing and delivering curriculum aligned with the Curriculum for Wales (desirable).
- Experience with Additional Learning Needs (desired).
- Knowledge of assessment and progression within the Curriculum for Wales (desirable).
- Experience developing and leading responsibility for Welsh language development or willingness to develop it.
- Ability to teach and communicate effectively through the medium of Welsh (desirable).
Desirable qualities and skills
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of assessment and progression within the Curriculum for Wales.
- Experience of, or willingness to develop, lead responsibility for Cymraeg/Welsh language development, promoting the use of Welsh across the school.
- Ability to teach and communicate effectively through the medium of Welsh.

Ysgol Sŵn y Don is seeking to appoint a passionate, nurturing and experienced teacher to join our team and teach within our Foundation Learning provision.
Due to the nature of the post, the successful candidate will be subject to a disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
It is required that the successful candidate registers with the Education Workforce Council prior to commencing employment.
