Responsibilities:

  • You will be supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities to have choice, control, and a voice, and support them to develop skills toward their longer term future.
  • You will plan and implement imaginative activities that help to develop skills.
  • You will work as part of a team in our Day Services and in the community.
  • You would need to motivate and support people to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support health and wellbeing such as:
  • w walks
  • quizzes
  • IT skills
  • swimming
  • baking
  • cooking
  • photography
  • crafts
  • Other duties may include assisting individuals who are unable to fully attend to their own personal care needs; this may include manual handling.
  • As a Day Service support worker you would need to demonstrate creative and open-mindedness, assisting people toward achieving their goals while helping the team to provide a safe, caring, and learning experience so they have the best quality of life possible.
  • Resilience is a must in our care sector. We all have good and bad days, and the ability to remain calm and supportive is required.
  • There may be a requirement to work some unsociable hours such as weekends and evenings but we will work with you so you have a work/life balance.
  • Qualifications:

    • Understanding of how people communicate feelings through behaviour.
    • ‘Can do’ attitude and ability to adapt skills.
    • Creative and open-minded approach.
    • Resilience and ability to stay calm during good and bad days.
    • Capability to work unsociable hours such as weekends and evenings.
    • Ability to communicate in English; proficiency in Welsh is desirable.
    • 2 satisfactory references and a DBS check.

    Training & Induction:

    You will undertake an induction programme and attend specialist training to acquire all the skills needed to provide the best opportunities for the individuals you support.

    Language Skills:

    The ability to communicate in English is necessary. Proficiency in Welsh is desirable and support for learning Welsh is provided at all levels.
