An opportunity has arisen for a Principal Planning Officer to join the Development Management team. As a Principal Planning Officer you will:
- Lead and inspire a team of Planning Officers, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
- Ensure the delivery of a high-quality planning service.
- Manage your own caseload of more complex and high-profile planning applications.
- Work to tight deadlines.
- Provide professional pre-application advice to the public, members and developers via our pre-application advice service and our duty officer service.
- Present applications at Planning Committee meetings and respond to questions from members.
- Represent the authority at appeal.
- Provide appropriate guidance to team members to enable them to be able to undertake their work in a professional and efficient manner.
- Monitor performance within the team and deal with any performance issues.
We are looking for someone with:
- A Degree in Planning or equivalent qualification.
- Membership of the RTPI.
- Comprehensive experience in development management.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to handle complex applications with confidence and sound professional judgement.
