Conwy County Borough Council is looking for a skilled and motivated Environment Manager to help deliver high‑quality countryside, biodiversity, and public greenspace services across the county. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys leading teams, improving services, and making a visible difference to local places and communities. Working within our Environment, Roads and Facilities service, you’ll oversee day‑to‑day operations, support the delivery of key projects, and help ensure our outdoor spaces are safe, attractive and sustainably managed.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage and coordinate daily operations across open spaces, countryside sites, biodiversity work and green infrastructure projects.
- Support the development and delivery of service plans and operational programmes.
- Motivate and develop multi‑disciplinary teams, promoting a positive and safe working culture.
- Manage budgets and ensure good financial controls are in place.
- Use data, digital tools and asset management systems to support continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, communities and partner organisations.
- Respond to enquiries, complaints and service issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Take part in the Out‑of‑Hours Duty Officer rota, including winter service decision‑making.
What You’ll Bring:
- Degree‑level qualification or relevant experience.
- Strong operational management experience.
- Knowledge of biodiversity, countryside, trees or greenspace management.
- Good understanding of health & safety and risk management.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience managing budgets and supporting service improvement.
- A calm, organised and adaptable approach.
- Ability to travel around the county and work flexibly, including some out‑of‑hours duties.
- Welsh language skills are desirable and support is available to help you learn.
