Location: Assigned Antic venue, with work across other venues where required
Reports to: Operations Support Centre
This is an active, shift-based role. You'll work alongside the team on the bar and floor, keep service running smoothly and make sure the venue is clean, safe and ready for customers. From opening checks to the final handover, you'll take responsibility for getting the essentials right, with direction and support from our Operations Support Centre.
What you'll do:
- Lead confident, organised shifts.
- Brief the team on bookings, events and service priorities. Allocate tasks, sections and breaks, support colleagues during busy periods and check that work is completed properly.
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, asking for support when needed.
- Complete opening and closing checks accurately and at the time they are carried out. Check presentation, toilets, stock, equipment and access routes before service. At closing, make sure cleaning, restocking, cashing up and records are complete, and the venue is secured correctly.
- Check deliveries against orders and paperwork before signing, including quantities, condition, dates and temperatures where applicable. Record and report discrepancies, deal with unsuitable goods in line with company procedures, and ensure stock is stored promptly and rotated correctly.
- Take ownership of cleanliness and presentation throughout the shift, including customer areas, toilets, the bar, cellar and back-of-house spaces. Allocate cleaning duties, inspect finished work and report maintenance or hygiene concerns promptly.
- Complete daily Weekly Business Summary (WBS) entries using the current shared Teams file. Cash up and reconcile takings as authorised, retain supporting reports and receipts, and report unresolved differences. Meet reporting deadlines and clearly hand over any information or tasks still outstanding.
- Follow company procedures for responsible alcohol service, age verification, food hygiene, allergens, health and safety, and security. Record incidents and concerns through the correct process. Give colleagues practical guidance and only undertake specialist tasks when trained and authorised.
What you'll bring:
- Experience in a pub, bar or similar hospitality environment.
- Shift-leading experience, or readiness to progress from a supervisory role.
- A practical approach and willingness to work alongside the team.
- Clear communication and confidence organising busy service.
- Good numeracy and attention to detail when handling cash, checking deliveries and completing records.
- Confidence using tills, spreadsheets and shared systems.
- Pride in customer service, cleanliness and leaving the venue ready for the next shift.
- Availability for an agreed rota, including evenings, weekends, opening and closing shifts.
Your responsibility: You'll lead allocated shifts and make routine operational decisions within agreed procedures and delegated authority. Wider decisions on budgets, recruitment and formal employee matters remain with the Operations Support Centre unless expressly delegated. If you enjoy taking responsibility, supporting colleagues and delivering friendly, efficient service, we'd like to hear from you.
You're a self-starter who thrives working independently, yet you know how to play well with others when teamwork is the name of the game. You've got a solid track record, boasting several years of experience in the hotel industry. Weekends are your playground! You're ready and willing to dive into shift work and keep the good times rolling. English? You've got it covered! Your communication skills are on point. Responsibility is your middle name, and you can juggle multiple tasks while keeping your cool. Computers are no mystery to you; you're pretty savvy with them. Flexibility and resilience? You've got both in spades, adapting to whatever comes your way with a smile.
