Description: The Analytics function creates competitive advantage through industryāleading decision making enabled by comprehensive data and crossāfunctional analytics. Convex is looking to hire an inquisitive, dynamic graduate who will rotate through a selection of the 9 different teams within Analytics, mastering the fundamentals across multiple disciplines. During your first two years, you would most likely rotate across 2ā4 of the 9 core Analytics teams as your "homeāteam", though you will also work on multidisciplinary projects that touch all Analytics functions. While some of your homeāteams will be predetermined, a key benefit of this programme is its flexibility, as your subsequent placements will be driven by your particular skillset, interests, and connections formed during the programme. Your development could focus on anything from actuarial and statistical techniques for analysing stochastic model output, negotiations and commercial acumen at the coalface of reinsurance purchasing, or data science and experimentation with new technologies in our Innovation team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Impact Analytics (Pricing): Supporting Underwriters on 'case pricing' of individual deals as they come in. Analyzing aggregated loss data to support portfolioālevel analysis, and engaging with Underwriters on resultant recommendations. Setting technical functionality, methods and parameters of the Pricing models.
- Capital Modelling: Developing the technical functionality (modeling method and calibrations) of the capital model. Manipulating large simulated datasets to provide knowledge and insight to stakeholders around the business.
- Ceded Re: Demonstrating the adequacy of the outwards RI programme and supporting the outwards RI placement process.
- Strategic Insights: Aggregate, analyze, and interpret data from across the business and the wider market to spot trends, conduct peer benchmarking, and inform strategy. Build and maintain decisionāsupport tools and dashboards, ensuring complex technical information is presented simply for effective business use and continuous enhancement.
- Infrastructure and Engineering: Handsāon exposure supporting multidisciplinary teams ('squads') in developing, maintaining, and enhancing data and AI applications, including the Data Universe. This includes learning core Data Modelling, Data Engineering, Data Science and analysis techniques used to ensure data quality and insight accessibility.
- Exposure Management: Support preābind pricing workflows with Underwriting teams to interpret catāmodel and exposure outputs. Support on monthly rollāups of bound portfolios and the portfolio insights that can be gleaned. Research projects on pertinent topics such as Climate change, cyber, and AI.
- Innovation: Use new technology including AI and data science to solve business problems and test new ideas.
- Product: Drive the strategy around, creation and evolution of Analytics products using humanācentred design and agile methods to empower underwriters and promote dataādriven decision making.
- Delivery: Focusing on the 'How' for delivering on our commitments to the business, assist Delivery Managers and Scrum Masters within assigned squads to ensure deliverables align with business outcomes and to improve the team's overall Agile maturity.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- Undergraduate or Masters degree in a statistical or numerical based subject (e.g. Actuarial, Economics, Physics, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a technical and nonātechnical audience, both verbally and in writing.
- Enjoys working in a team on a variety of topics and projects.
- Naturally curious with an interest in topics that directly impact Convex and the market we operate in.
- Genuine interest in using data and technology to improve processes and decisionāmaking. Coding experience is a great addition but not required.
