Overview
Within the Supply Chain team, the Senior Buyer will lead continuous improvements to the overall function along with tactical and strategic supplier management, and the management and process of buying of components, consumables, and services.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the workload, and priorities of direct buying function and manage resources proactively across Arbroath and Ballymena sites.
- Direct reports – Buyers.
- Establish and maintain effective purchasing relationships with vendors, managing the approved vendor list for direct buys and consumables.
- Drive continuous improvement within the supply chain function, through improving internal process, supplier relationships, sourcing & pricing agreements.
- Effectively managing root cause and corrective action on any issues with supplier deliveries.
- Work from BOM or purchase requisition to source all items to be purchased from suppliers, obtaining quotations, price, and delivery.
- Accurately enter all purchase details into computer system using the approved vendor database, issue and expedite with relevant vendors.
- Work from Change Notice communication, revising demand for direct purchasing, coordinating returns and order adjustments as required.
- Ensure best price and delivery is achieved for all direct and consumable purchases, either for stock or projects, independently negotiating contract terms and conditions.
- Deal with internal and supplier queries on purchase orders, or incorrect deliveries, informing the supplier and arranging returns if necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience working in procurement within the supply chain function.
- Experience or knowledge of working with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Experience supervising, mentoring and training junior staff members on systems and processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, customer service and influencing skills.
- High attention to detail and organisation skills, including experience delegating and coordinating team tasks and workload.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
