We are looking for a Legal Intern for a high-impact role at the heart of a fast-growing AI startup. You'll work directly with leadership to help build the legal and compliance foundations that will support Convergent's growth. This is not just about research—it’s about learning how legal strategy shapes a company at the cutting edge of AI, data, and human learning. This role is perfect for someone intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and excited to see how legal thinking intersects with technology, business, and product development.
You Will:
- Work closely with the founding team to support legal research, contract review, and compliance initiatives.
- Conduct research on AI regulations, data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), intellectual property, and employment law as they relate to a global AI product.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing contracts, NDAs, terms of service, and vendor agreements.
- Help develop internal policies, playbooks, and compliance frameworks as the company scales.
- Support due diligence and legal documentation for partnerships, fundraising, and corporate governance matters.
- Monitor regulatory developments in AI and emerging technology, synthesizing insights for leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure legal considerations are embedded early in decision-making.
- Help build the foundation for a scalable legal function—organizing documents, creating templates, and establishing best practices.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a law school program—such as a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in the U.S., Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in the UK or Europe, or an equivalent legal qualification in your jurisdiction.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Interest in technology law, AI regulation, data privacy, intellectual property, or startup/venture law.
- Ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal audiences.
- A proactive, self-starter mindset—resourceful, organized, and comfortable with ambiguity.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Familiarity with contract fundamentals and corporate legal basics is a plus.
- Willingness to learn fast, take ownership, and grow with the team.
Benefits:
Compensation varies based on profile and experience, but a general cash range for the 3-month internship (fixed comp + performance variable) is $10,000-$20,000, plus a competitive equity package in case you are confirmed.
