Are you ready to challenge “HR as usual”? Are you an HR professional who refuses to accept box‑ticking, process‑for‑process‑sake HR? Do you thrive on challenging the status quo, influencing managers and driving real organisational performance? At Convergence Group, HR isn't a support function that simply reacts to issues. Our People Team is a key driver of business growth, management capability and organisational performance. We believe in adult‑to‑adult relationships, and managers taking ownership of their people responsibilities. Our role is not to manage people on behalf of managers - it's to coach, challenge and equip them to lead effectively.
We're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner who can build credibility quickly, think commercially and partner with leaders to strengthen teams, develop talent and support long‑term success.
What it’s really like here: The pace and intensity are higher than most environments in our sector. The workload is typically around 30% greater than many people will have experienced elsewhere - not because we are chaotic, but because we are ambitious and constantly building. We grow organically and through acquisition, continuously integrating, improving and raising the bar. The landscape evolves, priorities shift, and expectations rise. If you prefer a predictable, static environment, this probably won’t feel comfortable. If you are energised by growth, movement and high standards, it can be deeply rewarding. Your strengths will have a bigger platform here - and you will be stretched behaviourally more than in most environments.
We value respectful honesty: anyone can challenge an idea; hierarchy doesn’t protect thinking and getting it right matters more than being right. Ego doesn’t perform well here; curiosity, learning and ownership do. We hire people who are already strong at their craft - the stretch at Convergence Group is navigating pace, complexity and constant evolution. This environment isn’t for everyone, but for the right person it offers an exceptional opportunity for impact, growth and accelerated development.
Where you’ll have an impact as our HR Business Partner: As one of three HR Business Partners, you'll work closely with leaders across the business to strengthen leadership effectiveness, improve business results and ensure we have the talent and culture needed for continued success.
- Partner with managers to align people plans with business objectives
- Coach and influence managers to enhance leadership, performance management and decision‑making
- Develop high‑performing teams through talent planning, succession planning and capability development
- Use people data and business insight to identify trends, risks and opportunities
- Lead and advise on complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent and commercially sound outcomes
- Help embed a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement
What you’ll need to make an impact:
- 10+ years' HR experience, including at least 5 years operating as an HR Business Partner
- Experience partnering with managers in a fast‑paced commercial, operational, technical, engineering, telecommunications, utilities or service‑led environment
- Strong UK employment law knowledge and experience managing complex employee relations cases
- Proven success driving performance, capability and behavioural change
- Experience supporting transformation and business change initiatives
- Strong coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to use people data and insight to drive business decisions
- Confidence to challenge constructively and credibility to bring others with you
- A belief in personal responsibility and adult‑to‑adult working relationships
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (Level 7 and/or coaching qualifications would be advantageous)
- Ability to obtain BPSS clearance
About you: You're commercially minded, pragmatic and confident working with leaders at all levels. You know how to balance support with healthy debate, helping managers navigate difficult situations while becoming more confident and effective leaders. You're comfortable having honest conversations, influencing decisions and finding practical solutions that work for both the business and its people.
- Integrity, credibility and sound judgement
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Resilience and adaptability
- A solutions‑focused mindset
- A commitment to continuous improvement
What’s in it for you?
- Salary of £50-65,000 per annum
- 25 days holiday increasing with service, plus bank holidays
- Enhanced pension, private medical insurance, income protection & life assurance
- Enhanced family friendly leave and pay
- Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days a week in the Solihull office
- Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities
- Dog‑friendly office
