At Convergence Group, we’ve spent the last 20+ years building a business driven by ambition, innovation, and exceptional people. Now we’re looking for a Credit Controller to help shape the next phase of our journey. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply sit behind a spreadsheet. You’ll be speaking to customers, chasing outstanding payments, resolving issues and working closely with teams across the business to make sure we get paid for the services we deliver.
What It’s Really Like Here
The pace and intensity are higher than most environments in our sector. The workload is typically around 30% greater than many people will have experienced elsewhere - not because we are chaotic, but because we are ambitious and constantly building. We grow organically and through acquisition, continuously integrating, improving and raising the bar. The landscape evolves, priorities shift, and expectations rise. If you prefer a predictable, static environment, this probably won’t feel comfortable. If you are energised by growth, movement and high standards, it can be deeply rewarding.
Your strengths will have a bigger platform here - and you will be stretched behaviourally more than in most environments. We value respectful honesty: anyone can challenge an idea; hierarchy doesn’t protect thinking and getting it right matters more than being right. Ego doesn’t perform well here; curiosity, learning and ownership do. We hire people who are already strong at their craft - the stretch at Convergence Group is navigating pace, complexity and constant evolution. This environment isn’t for everyone, but for the right person it offers an exceptional opportunity for impact, growth and accelerated development.
What You’ll Be Doing As Our Credit Controller
- Managing customer accounts and debt: Take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, proactively chase outstanding and aged debt, send payment reminders and work directly with Accounts Payable teams to secure payment.
- Keeping payments and records accurate: Post and reconcile customer receipts in NetSuite, maintain accurate debtor records, calculate interest charges where appropriate and produce aged debt reports.
- Resolving payment blockers: Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries quickly, working closely with Finance, Sales and Operations to remove disputes and get payments moving.
- Supporting finance operations: Raise and process purchase orders in NetSuite, support month-end and year-end activities, and provide financial reports and analysis when required.
- You’ll know you’re doing a great job when: overdue debt and unallocated cash are kept below 5%, overdue accounts are proactively chased, invoice queries are resolved quickly, and customer payments come in on time - helping to continually reduce aged debt.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years’ experience in a Credit Controller role
- Strong B2B credit control experience, with a proven track record of collecting outstanding payments
- Confidence speaking to customers and Accounts Payable teams about overdue invoices
- Experience working in a fast-paced SME environment
- Strong attention to detail, with experience maintaining accurate financial records and working with ERP or finance systems - NetSuite experience would be a bonus
- The confidence to challenge, negotiate and have sometimes difficult conversations
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to resolving issues, with the resilience and determination to keep chasing until you get results
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including a good standard of Maths and English.
- Ability to pass BPSS clearance checks
What’s in it for you?
- Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 - depending on experience
- Time off: 33 days holiday (yep, including bank holidays).
- Benefits: Private Medical, enhanced Pension, Income Protection & Life Assurance
