About the role: The role is to lead the shift team responsible for all manufacturing and warehouse operations at the Rhymney Site including tank farm and RTO operation as well as deliveries and loading operations. The role is responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of the site production plans to the quality standards required as well as being accountable for the line management of production and warehouse operators. The Shift Lead is also the Incident Controller for site in the case of an emergency.
Your key duties and responsibilities:
- Communicating the vision and strategy of the manufacturing unit and ensuring alignment with the wider organization.
- Role models the right EHS behaviours and ensures safety standards are met.
- Incident controller in the event of a site emergency.
- Responsible through the Senior Operators for the safe issue and hand back of permits to work.
- Leads and documents first line Root Cause Analysis into EHS issues on shift.
- Maintains risk assessments for area of ownership.
- Role models the right GMP behaviours and ensures quality standards are met.
- Leads out and documents event management for non-conformances.
- Carries out Root Cause Analysis for Trackwise events.
- Carries out all aspects of personnel management for manufacturing and warehouse team – performance, disciplinary action, absence, sickness, holidays, conflict, recruitment, induction, overtime and training.
- Drive the Company’s Mission, Values and Priorities initiatives, as well as the performance coaching process, to ensure a consistent high-performance culture.
- Consistently developing people through coaching, counseling and delegation.
- Engages the team to work together effectively.
- Ensures a Continuous Improvement environment and challenges the norm to keep driving improvements.
- Empowers team members to generate ideas and solutions and drive the improvement activity.
- Support the Manufacturing Manager to manage departmental budgets and product standards, including accountability for performance, reporting and meeting customer service levels.
- Participating effectively in all elements of resource planning for their respective manufacturing unit.
- Liaises closely with planning, maintenance and quality teams.
- Ensures process is operated to standard procedures.
- Investigates, documents and communicates any exception (breakdowns, damage, scrap runs or production defects).
- Dsear and Atex regulations compliance.
Skills & Experience:
- People management skills.
- Awareness of ‘Regulated Quality.
- Experience of and capability to adapt to changing production environments in medical or equivalent regulated industry.
- Experience of working with, supervising, and taking responsibility for operations staff to deliver production output safely and to highest quality standards.
- Ability to support the effective operation of a Permit to Work system and other procedures and controls in support of this.
- People development coaching, management of sickness and absence, leading disciplinary procedures for operations staff.
Qualifications/Education:
- Degree, or equivalent qualification.
- CI lean / six sigma green belt.
- Leadership qualifications, equivalent to ILM.
- IOSH Managing Safely & or other Safety Qualifications such as NEBOSH General Cert desirable.
- A good understanding of working safely to current legislation such as ‘Health & Safety at Work act 1974’.
- Experience of working to SOP’s, Work Instructions, health & safety policies, risk assessments, method statements and site isolations & permits as required.
- Demonstrated experience in the MedTech or Pharma Industry.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required.
Working Conditions: This position is based in Rhymney with an onsite working structure. 24/5 shift pattern – DNA.
