Repair & Maintenance work is focused on maintenance of building and grounds of an organization, and the upkeep of equipment and supplies including:
- Scheduling repairs, renovations projects, waste reduction improvements, and safety inspections.
- Negotiating with outside vendors/contractors for supplies, repairs, and capital purchases.
- Overseeing services related to electric maintenance, mechanics, hydraulics, carpentry and masonry.
- Ensuring operating requirements, building codes, and safety regulations are met.
- Responsible for repairs, adjustments, and ongoing maintenance of facilities.
- Conducting periodic inspections to determine maintenance work required.
Position Overview: The maintenance technician will be responsible for front line maintenance and break down response on a shift basis working a rotating shift pattern. This is a key role in maintaining continuity in production at our Rhymney manufacturing facility. The main objective of this role is to keep manufacturing assets safely operational to ensure that the production targets are met consistently through planned and reactive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximising the uptime of the Rhymney site by performing planned and reactive maintenance and continuous improvement of process and facilities equipment.
- Use of plant metrics e.g. OEE, plant downtime to drive continuous improvement of process equipment.
- Support the effective integration of new machinery/technology into Rhymney operations.
- Electrical and mechanical problem solving and fault diagnosis across full site.
- Responsible for the health and safety of themselves and others at all times during engineering interventions.
- To maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and GMP in all aspects of work.
- Ability to determine appropriate safety standards for new and existing equipment and methods of installation.
- Following training the applicant will be required to issue permits and host service contractors.
- Contribute towards electrical specifications to be included with machinery supply contracts and to conduct electrical safety evaluations on machinery and plant supplied.
- Capture engineering changes / modifications and oversee that all changes are updated to Convatec drawings.
- Ability to support maintenance strategies, controls and recording systems with regard to factory Mechanical systems, plant and machinery.
- Use maintenance management system to log and record breakdowns and corrective actions.
Skills & Experience:
- An understanding of clean room or controlled environment controls i.e. HVAC, Humidity and Pressure Cascades etc.
- Broad experience in Electrical Systems, Operations and Maintenance, with proven ability in the management of site infrastructure systems and services.
- Fluent PC skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plus ideally MS Project, CAD.
- General Knowledge of 18th Edition (BS-7671) IEE Regulations.
- Knowledge of PLC’s and SCADA systems would be advantageous.
- Compex training/awareness desirable.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems such as Maximo.
Qualifications/Education:
- HNC / ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Experienced in managing electrical systems.
- A recognized engineering apprenticeship completed within a regulated industry.
Working Conditions: Working a 30% of the time in an office based environment, with the other 70% of time spent on process plant and in a clean room manufacturing environments.
Working Hours: This role works on a shift basis. The shifts are 6.00am - 2.10pm // 2.00pm - 10.10pm // 08.00am - 2.10pm. Call‑out coverage is also required and employees are rostered to work one Saturday and Sunday every eight weeks.
