About the role
As a European Distribution Manager you will be operationally responsible for the largest distribution centres for Convatec and will manage the relationship and projects with the ThirdâParty Logistics partner (3PL) who executes the receipt and storage of the finished goods as well as transportation to customers and redeployments orders to other Convatec Distribution Centres globally.
This role is responsible for:
- Overseeing daily operations and performance of the thirdâparty logistics provider, ensuring KPIs in Convatec's 3PL contracts are met or exceeded.
- Collaborating with peers and logistics associates to develop and present the annual budget, incorporating input from supply planning and commercial teams.
- Managing the financial performance of contracted European distribution centres to achieve favourable results within budget.
- Planning, executing, and tracking key projects to meet agreed deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Ensuring distribution centres consistently meet or surpass On Time and In Full (OTIF) monthly KPIs for finished goods delivery.
- Leading continuous improvement and productivity initiatives to achieve annual targets.
Your key duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing collaborative relationships with thirdâparty logistics providers within the Convatec European distribution network to achieve service, quality, and cost objectives.
- Define, track, publish, and meet monthly contractual and customerâfocused KPIs; ensure Distribution Centres and Transportation Teams meet performance and financial targets.
- Provide monthly KPI trend narrative, address variances above/below targets, and review/approve warehouse and transport invoices; elevate unresolved issues as needed.
- Monitor actual spend against budget, communicate variances to leadership, collaborate with finance on monthly accruals, and support annual budget preparation and presentation.
- Serve as main contact for all 3PL operations communications, resolve complaints, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with Convatec's Logistics team.
- Prioritize, execute, and track savings from improvement projects, presenting program performance to senior leadership and maintaining regular communication and meeting cadence with 3PL teams.
- Achieve OTIF monthly KPI, report and address logistics variances, and implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to Green Initiatives in distribution operations and oversee responses to quality and regulatory inventory actions (e.g., Stopâship, Reworks).
- Develop and manage Business Continuity Plans for operational crises, ensuring compliance with Convatec Quality Systems and addressing CAPAs/SCARS as required.
- Update logistics director on activities supporting quarter/yearâend execution; handle GIT Reporting and ensure successful commercial launches.
- Work independently, drive crossâfunctional teams on complex projects, elevate progress to senior leadership, and coach new team members.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong problemâsolving abilities, with business case development experience preferred.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership.
- Ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detailâoriented, and diligent in followâup.
- Extensive knowledge of inventory, distribution, SAP, and Warehouse Management Systems.
- Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for independent analysis.
- Experience in designing and implementing continuous improvement projects and tracking results.
- Experience managing automated warehouse operations preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, including use of statistical methods and attention to detail.
- IBP experience and dashboard creation a plus.
- Able to work independently in a fastâpaced setting.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel, database software, SAP, MS Outlook, and Warehouse Management Systems.
Qualifications/Education:
- Minimum 8â10+ years of leadership experience in managing 3PL Warehouse and Transportation required.
- Proven experience in managing outsourced operations and holding 3PL's accountable to meet contracted service levels and meeting annual budgets.
- BS or BA degree preferred.
- Project Management experience and certification preferred.
- Membership of Institute of Logistics desirable.
Travel Requirements:
- 25% travel required for supplier performance meetings and other jobârelated meetings. Some overnight travel may be required.
Working Conditions:
- This position is remote role and must be located near Convatec or 3PL office locations. Travel to Distribution Centres and other local meetings will be required.
