Position Overview: The Engineering Planner is responsible for creating, optimising and planning preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring all required parts are available for each maintenance activity, managing lubrication standards and breakdown analysis reports, and meeting customer and organisation expectations. The Engineering Planner will be at the forefront of the Maximo CMMS for the Engineering department. The role liaises with and organises all external contractors for planned service and maintenance work for all departments within the Engineering Team. The Engineering Planner will work closely with the Controls Team to plan calibration activities including collecting and sending items to external calibration testing providers. The role will be at the forefront of SAP purchasing of parts and servicing contracts.
The position is primarily an office-based role, leading the high standard of preventative and corrective maintenance within the site Maintenance Team. The Engineering Planner will work with the Maintenance Manager, Controls Manager, Facilities Manager, Manufacturing Shift Leads, Planners and Stores Team to communicate and organise maintenance activities. The role ensures that all maintenance compliance expectations are met in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works very closely with the Maintenance Manager to deliver all required KPIs.
- Works collaboratively with Maintenance Manager, Manufacturing Shift Leads and Planners to prioritise and align labour to all PM and TPM tasks.
- Works collaboratively with all Engineering Managers to support their calibration and CMMS requirements.
- Ensures site assets are compliant through Safety & Quality standards and metrics.
- Hands-on role with direct leadership of maintenance technicians for the Deeside site, ensuring maximum visibility of the team on the shop floor and strong service to line-based teams.
- Execute Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) driving down machine time loss and supporting increased OEE year on year.
- Drives maintenance compliance through safety & quality and leads root-cause analysis.
- Prioritises data to communicate within the organisation; decisions based on actual figures.
- Lead the improvement and optimisation of all scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Implement predictive and preventative maintenance techniques and support Autonomous maintenance.
- Manage planned maintenance execution and ensure 100% compliance.
- Collaborate with internal departments to prepare for operational readiness of new and modified installations to ensure safety, reliability, and maintainability of equipment.
- Coordinate with TPM stakeholders and sites to share practices and improve results.
- Understand financial metrics and KPIs; work with site leadership to develop and achieve aggressive improvement goals.
- Control and organise all statutory contractor visits.
- Coordinate contractor management and permits for planned maintenance and servicing.
Authority: The Engineering Planner will deputise for the Maintenance Manager with the running of the maintenance team during absences.
Skills & Experience:
- Time served Engineer.
- Considerable knowledge and experience in manufacturing engineering is essential.
- Knowledge of technical fault finding is essential.
- Expert knowledge in mechanical/electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Previous experience of improvement projects and leading teams.
- Experience in a highly regulated maintenance environment is essential.
- Management experience within a maintenance framework would be an advantage.
- Proficiency with PC programs (Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint), statistical tools (e.g., Minitab or Jump), project management (Microsoft Project), SAP.
- Previous experience of using CMMS (Maximo) is essential.
- Self-motivation and flexibility in job assignments.
- Blend of leadership and technical skills; strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Results and data orientated; driven with high working standards.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with shop-floor and office staff.
Qualifications/Education:
- Time served engineer (electrical & mechanical).
- Craft technician qualifications (NVQ 4, PLC qualification, C&G, ONC/HNC, BTEC or equivalent).
Team: Support the training and guidance of Engineering Apprentices. Support the Maintenance Technicians to solve complex issues on the production lines.

Travel Requirements: Travel may be required to attend training courses for the role.
Working Conditions: This role is shop floor-based covering three manufacturing units.
Special Factors: Weekday Shift – Monday – Friday (09:00-16:30).
