As the External Innovation Strategy Manager, you will play a key role in helping to identify and analyze valuable technology opportunities in which Convatec will make investments. You will serve at the forefront of research, analysis and insight development that will enable Convatec decisions to place bets on future business opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing and executing projects that develop insights and recommendations to guide investment decision making, based on data and research – these projects can cover a variety of objectives:
  • Unmet needs assessment for target clinical conditions
  • Technology adoption potential – considering HCPs, payers and patients
  • Reimbursement potential for new technologies
  • Target business case development
  • Conducting data analytics, determining category trend insights and creating output visualizations to help inform innovation area recommendations and business development opportunities
  • Collaborating with clinical, regulatory, R&D and commercial stakeholders to evolve our understanding of opportunity areas and defining target company shortlists
  • Driving continuous improvement of our process and analytics to drive cross-business consistency and evolution of our ability to define relevant potential segments and targets
  • Developing executive communication materials to share your findings with key stakeholders at business unit and executive leadership levels
  • Coordinating with business, marketing, medical, and R&D leaders to understand Convatec capabilities to integrate new technology
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Science, engineering or other degree with strong numeracy requirements from a top-tier university
    • Optional: MBA from a top-tier school
    • Proven ability to design and execute strategy projects that provide clearly communicated recommendations, based on executed research and analysis
    • Strong attention to detail as the research, data, analytic and resulting insights will help to inform strategy & investment decisions
    • Strong analytical skillset and ability to present data and insights in a concise, informative manner – with strong related competency in Excel and PowerPoint
    • Preferably some level of life sciences experience to ensure appropriate comprehension of information being researched, e.g. within publications, on medical technologies and the relevant high-level steps that are required to bring innovation to market within medical devices
    • Preferable 1-3 years consultant level role experience from within a top-tier management consulting firm
    • Motivated, easy to work with and collaborative

    The position is a hybrid role, with the expectation to be present in the office on a regular basis. The position will involve travel to 4-8 conferences per year, plus project related travel to collaborate with cross-functional teams (primarily Europe and US).
