The Insurance function is responsible for the procurement and management of global insurance programmes for all group entities and assisting group entities on local insurance programmes. In addition, it provides advice and guidance on insurance related matters including risk engineering. The vision of the insurance function is “to understand our business risks and help deliver aligned commercial insurance solutions”.
Your Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborating with and advising senior management stakeholders on insurance strategy and implementation.
- Providing high quality data analysis and management reporting to support insurance strategy and activities.
- Leading and maintaining regular interface with business entities to give assistance and understand their operations and objectives in relation to insurance coverage.
- Taking responsibility for the coordination, delivery and communication of the annual global renewal process with a focus on rationalising the collection of underwriting data whilst improving quality and relevancy, as well as ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Implementing and managing a fixed asset valuation programme with an external valuation company.
- Closely working with the Insurance Assistant on the day-to-day management of global insurance policies, and local insurance policies where required.
- Working with the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety to coordinate and implement risk engineering programmes, and maintaining regular update meetings with insurance partners to review progress.
- Leading the legal review of insurance policies to ensure appropriateness, relevancy and avoidance of duplication in cover, and evaluate opportunities for increased synergies and self-insurance.
- Reporting in an appropriate way to a range of audiences such as executive leadership community and committees on various matters such as stewardship reviews and claims monitoring.
- Maintaining budgets, including forecasting, settlement, accounting and reporting of premium spend.
- Where required, taking the lead on coordinating insurance claims to ensure positive engagement between business entity and insurance partners to encourage prompt resolution and awareness of lessons learnt.
- Undertaking due diligence reviews on mergers, acquisitions, disposals and other specific projects.
- Raising the internal profile of the insurance function and being the primary point of contact for insurance queries raised by colleagues.
- Providing guidance on contract reviews in collaboration with Legal, Procurement, Sales and Client management teams.
- Driving work efficiencies by developing an intranet platform to signpost and provide insurance documentation, processes and guidance.
- Managing the existing insurance broker and other external insurance partners to ensure compliance and delivery of agreed service standards.
- Maintaining regular interactive relationships with alternative insurance brokers to lead and facilitate efficient and effective future insurance broker tenders.
- Building close, positive and fruitful relationships with the insurance market by educating on and promoting the group’s activities and financial performance.
- Progressing the database of policy coverages, retentions, premiums, claims and fees across the insurance policy portfolio.
- Maintaining regular tripartite meetings with Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit colleagues to ensure risks are identified, risk appetite is quantified and providing insurance solutions.
- Helping to implement, communicate and manage the introduction of new insurance policy coverage, processes and protocols across the group.
- Ensuring premium allocations, invoicing and settlement, and certificates are accurate and issued in a timely manner.
About you
- Degree educated or hold an equivalent qualification.
- Good experience of working in the insurance industry on global insurance programmes for a large multi‑national corporate.
- ACII qualified, or equivalent.
- Highly numerate, analytical and literate with strong attention to detail.
- Financial and commercially astute.
- Strong IT literacy.
- Enthusiastic and good interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and tenacious, with a desire to challenge existing processes and drive improvements.
