We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute National Commercial Manager to lead Convatec's UK & Ireland Tendering, Contracting and Value Based Partnership (VBP) strategy within the Advanced Wound Care business.
Commercial & Contracting Strategy
- Develop and implement the UK & Ireland tender, contracting and pricing strategy across all healthcare channels.
- Lead all national tender and procurement activities, ensuring early opportunity identification, effective tender shaping and successful contract execution.
- Drive contract governance, risk management and compliance across all commercial agreements.
- Optimise contract profitability whilst balancing customer value, market share and long‑term business objectives.
- Provide commercial leadership on pricing strategy and financial modelling.
Value Based Partnerships (VBP)
- Lead the development and implementation of Convatec's Value Based Partnership strategy.
- Design innovative commercial models that align product value with healthcare outcomes and system priorities.
- Partner with Marketing and Medical Affairs to develop compelling value propositions and health economic evidence.
- Support the generation of real‑world evidence and outcome measurement programmes to demonstrate clinical and economic value.
- Identify opportunities to support NHS productivity, pathway transformation and sustainability objectives.
External Stakeholder Engagement
- Build senior‑level relationships with NHS Supply Chain, NHS SBS, National Procurement Scotland, HSCNI, HSE Ireland, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), Provider Trusts and Private Hospital Groups.
- Influence procurement and commissioning strategies through early engagement and collaborative partnership working.
- Represent Convatec within key industry organisations including ABHI, SDMA and other relevant healthcare forums.
- Monitor and influence emerging NHS, procurement and healthcare policy developments.
Market Access & Healthcare Partnerships
- Support national and regional market access initiatives to improve adoption and utilisation of Convatec solutions.
- Collaborate with Strategic Partnership Managers and Commercial Teams to identify opportunities for pathway redesign and service improvement.
- Develop strategic partnerships that support long‑term sustainable growth and customer value creation.
- Contribute to healthcare system transformation projects aligned to NHS priorities.
Leadership & Cross Functional Collaboration
- Act as the subject matter expert for tenders, contracts, procurement and value‑based healthcare.
- Lead continuous improvement of tender management processes, tools and governance.
- Work closely with Finance, Legal and Compliance teams to ensure robust commercial decision making.
- Coach and support commercial teams on contracting strategy, value selling and procurement engagement.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in tendering, contracting, pricing, procurement or market access within healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals or related sectors.
- Demonstrable track record of influencing and securing successful national and regional contract outcomes.
- Strong understanding of NHS procurement, commissioning and healthcare funding mechanisms across the UK and Ireland.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders including procurement leads, commissioning teams, healthcare executives and industry bodies.
- Commercially astute with strong analytical, negotiation and financial skills.
- Experience developing and communicating compelling value propositions.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management capabilities.
Desirable Experience
- Direct experience of Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) or Value Based Partnership models.
- Experience working with NHS Supply Chain, NHS SBS, National Procurement Scotland, HSCNI and HSE Ireland.
- Understanding of Drug Tariff, NHS reimbursement mechanisms and healthcare policy.
- Experience working with private healthcare groups and independent sector providers.
