The NPI Project Manager oversees the project management, planning, execution, tracking, and reporting of Advanced Wound Care new product introduction and large-scale change management projects in accordance with agreed upon scope, timing, and budget. The role requires driving cross functional project and/or program execution through collaboration with various functional groups, including R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations/Manufacturing and Commercial teams and communication and management of external suppliers and third-party manufacturing organization activities outsourcing on assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently project manage and deliver high priority operations led projects to ensure completion on time and within the agreed scope and budget.
  • Establish, drive & nurture a high-performing team culture.
  • Establish a project team and coordinate and plan activities across functions inclusive of Global Operations and Quality (GQO) Manufacturing, Technology and Innovation (T&I) and Global Marketing organizations, as well as manage external supplier activities to provide a coordinated and collaborative approach to New Product and equipment Introduction.
  • Evaluate and secure resources from functional resource groups to support project feasibility through to delivery.
  • Create detailed work plans for assigned projects and changes which identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully complete each project, understanding and factoring for dependencies to other cross functional activities.
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Create agendas, chair meetings, and maintain accurate records of actions, decisions, and risks.
  • Stakeholder management throughout the project. Establishment of communication schedules to update pre-determined stakeholders on the progress of the projects and establish steering & escalation teams.
  • Review project schedules with senior management and project team members; revise schedules/plan as required. Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Identification of roadblocks/issues within projects. Problem solve / support / mitigate and escalate as appropriate to ensure resolution.
  • Run risk review sessions and build mitigation plans with cross functional teams to ensure level of risk is accurately assessed, and ensure threat to projects is minimized, and opportunities maximized. Ensure clear communication of risk profile to senior leadership.
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
  • Creation of operational strategy documents including assessing manufacturing requirements.
  • Providing cost estimates to input into project business cases.
  • Work with the finance team to input into annual project budget planning, coordinate monthly spend predictions and accruals.
  • Drafting OPEX/CAPEX/CAR documentation. Monitor all budgeted project expenditures.
  • Evaluating and quantifying the production costs that will be incurred on finished goods.
  • Ownership and management of owned changes in quality systems.
  • Compilation and presentation of Operational input for Business Gate reviews.
  • Signatory for any Operations sign offs as part of Design Control documentation.
  • Determine the objectives and measures (KPIs) upon which projects will be evaluated at completion, and monitor through to completion.
  • In consultation with senior management assess, recruit, interview and select staff with appropriate skills for project activities.
  • Ensure that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the project.
  • Develop processes, forms and records to document project activities. Optimize to meet the needs of advanced operations.
  • Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Write reports on the project for management as requested by the Director.
  • Determine and facilitate operational activities required to complete project closure and ensure clear agreed roles and responsibilities to effectively handover project into Business as Usual/base business.
  • Support and input into PMOs to develop and enhance project management tools, processes, and systems to ensure consistent and efficient ways of working.

Key Requirements

  • Candidate should have strong analytical skills with proven experience in project planning and project management, with excellent track record of product delivery.
  • Candidate should have strong customer service attitude and capability and should be a strong relationship builder.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently and to deal with ambiguity.
  • Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels of organization, up to executive management.
  • Candidate must provide leadership of teams and co-ordinate with cross-functional areas and business functions.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problem, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • Highly structured, capable of running lots of tasks in parallel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications/Education

  • University Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • At least 7+ years' experience managing and delivering products into manufacturing ideally in medical device industry or similar.
  • Prior experience in Woundcare industry is preferred.
  • Experience in vendor and supplier communication and management is essential.
  • Experience in project management collaborating with cross functional teams either in Operations Projects or Product Development projects.
  • Experience working with Business Process models e.g., Stage Gate Processes. Experience with SCRUM based sprint planning is desirable.
  • A good understanding of Medical Device Regulations and CFR, and experience with Design Control is required.
  • A project management certification e.g., PMP, APM, Prince 2 or equivalent is preferred.
  • A high level of proficiency in the use of MS Word, MS Project, MS Powerpoint, MS Excel, database software, SAP, MS Outlook, Project Management Cloud Software.

Travel Requirements

  • Position may involve travel up to 25% of the time, mostly within Europe but overseas travel is expected.
  • Most trips will include overnight travel.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily remote working with the expectation of travelling to regional Convatec facilities as required (at least monthly) for project meetings and workshops, which may increase dependent on project needs.
