Quality Inspector – Factory / Steel Products Aldridge - WS9 Hours - Monday–Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm / Friday: 6:00am –3:00pm Pay - £14.00–£14.50 per hour, negotiable depending on experience. Temporary - Permanent We are looking for a hands-on Quality Inspector to work predominantly on the factory floor within a steel manufacturing environment. This is a practical inspection role. The main responsibilities include carrying out first-off and ongoing inspections of manufactured steel profiles, ensuring parts have been produced correctly before production continues, as well as inspecting subcontracted parts before they are released back into the production process. Main duties: * Carry out first-off inspections of manufactured parts and profiles before production continues. * Check manufactured parts against customer/engineering drawings to ensure the correct profile has been produced. * Check dimensions, hole positions, cut-outs, overall profile and other drawing requirements. * Identify incorrect profiles, dimensional discrepancies and visible quality defects. * Inspect a wide range of similar components, requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to identify differences between parts. * Use measuring equipment including digital/vernier callipers, micrometres, tape measures and gauges. * Carry out visual quality inspections of cut and manufactured steel products. * Book in parts returned from subcontract suppliers, ensuring the relevant information and documentation is correctly recorded. * Inspect subcontracted parts on receipt against the relevant drawings/specifications before they are released to continue through the production process. Identify and report any subcontracted parts that do not meet the required specification and ensure they are not released into production until the issue has been addressed. * Clearly identify and report non-conforming products before further production or dispatch. * Record inspection results and assist with NCRs and quality records where required. * Maintain product/material identification and traceability throughout the inspection process. * Liaise with production, office staff and the Quality team where drawings, specifications or manufactured parts require clarification. * Physically handle and move components as part of the inspection process. What we're looking for: Previous experience within a factory, engineering, steel or manufacturing environment is important. Candidates should be confident reading engineering drawings, carrying out first-off/dimensional inspection, using manual measuring equipment and identifying when a manufactured part or profile does not match the drawing. The role is predominantly factory/shop-floor based and involves regular manual handling, including some heavier components, so candidates must be comfortable with the physical requirements of a hands-on inspection role. Previous steel, profiling, fabrication, inspection experience would be particularly useful
