Consultant, Electronic and Physical Security Design Engineering
We are looking for a Consultant to join our Electronic and Physical Security Design Engineering team in London. In this role you will lead and manage security design consulting engagements to a professional standard in partnership with senior colleagues and the Director. You will be a subject‑matter expert in electronic security systems and oversee security design and installation projects from conception to completion, ensuring high‑quality deliverables and adherence to client and company budgets and programmes.
Responsibilities
- Undertake technical security reviews, audits, design surveys, installation inspections and approvals at client sites and in the office.
- Design physical and electronic security systems, working with specialist engineers within project design teams.
- Lead engagements, owning problems and providing solutions locally.
- Lead and participate in client and project meetings, ensuring that practices and services represent the client’s best interests.
- Maintain client and company deliverables, ensuring high quality and meeting budgets and programmes.
- Maintain time and expense records to ensure accurate invoicing each month.
- Deliver tasks on time, on budget, to high standards.
- Collaborate with the entire team, drawing on collective experience and opinion.
- Travel to client sites and Control Risks offices within the Middle East, Europe and Africa as required.
- Proactively seek opportunities to develop projects and business.
- Participate in business development, marketing and profile‑raising events.
- Provide expert knowledge of security consulting and other Control Risks service lines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in security integration, design, consulting or engineering, with specific background in designing electronic and physical security systems.
- In-depth knowledge of CCTV, access control systems and other security technologies, with the ability to specify, design and evaluate these systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and client‑focused mindset; excellent communicator able to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.
- Professional qualifications such as CPP, PSP or equivalent (highly desirable).
- Meticulous attention to detail in design and project management, ensuring consistently high‑quality delivery.
- Hands‑on experience installing and delivering enterprise‑class electronic security solutions.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver technical consulting engagements.
- Knowledge of current national and international standards and installation practices.
- Project management experience relevant to security consulting and installations within the built environment.
- Ability to use AutoCAD and Bluebeam for design.
- Preferred: thorough knowledge of designing physical security systems (fencing, gates, walls, doors and facades).
- Preferred: regional experience throughout the UK and Europe.
- Preferred: experience with Revit, SketchUp, MS Project or other relevant design software.
- Preferred: security or engineering qualifications, e.g., ASIS PSP.
