Job Description
Contraflow is looking for a motivated Depot Supervisor to join our team in Perth.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Depot / Yard Manager to join our Traffic Management Business. You will work alongside the Operations Planner to manage the full running of the yard and support the Ops Planner in all duties. You will act as a bridge between the TMO workforce and the depot management, you will address hearsay and rumour with facts and will seek out clarification on issues from your line manager to address any concerns. Your job will be to deal with low level Operational issues that occur to ensure the Ops Planner is able to devote their time almost exclusively to the role of planning. You will ensure at all times that you adhere to and actively enforce quality and safety measures and that, by doing your job successfully, you help ensure Company objectives are met.
Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Maintain high standards of site maintenance to include all HS&E checks
- Manage and mentor the Sign-Maker, ensuring time is well utilised and work is efficient
- Manage the Traffic Light store
- Personally looking out jobs and ensuring equipment is ready for uplift for various tasks
- Direct all road-based staff to complete tasks as required whilst in the Perth yard and dealing with ad-hoc issues
- Work with the Transport Manager to ensure the fleet is well maintained, conducting spot checks on vehicle cleanliness and administration
- Develop awareness of Operations planning to support the Planner where required
- Robustly challenge poor performance and bad behaviour at the source, escalating to line manager as required
- Ensure that any issues you raise regarding performance or quality are reviewed at management level and that the appropriate corrective action is taken
- Take feedback from the workforce on all issues and provide this to management constructively as part of the communications plan
- Manage the depot PPE stock
- Support the Planner in completion of 121s and Probation Reviews.
Who would this suit:
This role will be yard based and will be very 'hands on'. It would not suit anyone looking for an office based depot management role. If you have experience of working in a warehouse or depot and you have the capability and personality to manager others, then we would welcome an application.
Role Requirements:
- Experience of Depot Management / Supervision is essential
- Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment where changes to your operating plan will be frequent and at short notice
- Ability to drive forward change processes to ensure Operatives are undertaking tasks required
- Ability to monitor and challenge behaviour
- Flexibility to deal with workforce issues out of normal working hours
- Direct Line Management experience preferred
- Experience of Traffic Management is highly desirable
