Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive spares model to support operational availability and through-life equipment requirements.

  • Review inventory-related Basis of Estimate (BoE) submissions and provide assurance on proposed costs, quantities and assumptions.
  • Review Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) plans and support the management of associated inventory requirements.

  • Develop inventory performance measures and KPIs to monitor availability, accuracy, cost and supply-chain performance.
  • Undertake inventory and supply-chain risk assessments, identifying potential impacts on operational delivery and recommending mitigating actions.
  • Support contract assurance activities, including the review of supplier performance, delivery obligations and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor inventory records and work with data-management stakeholders to maintain the accuracy of inventory-management systems.
  • Forecast future inventory and asset-replacement requirements in line with operational plans and contractual commitments.
  • Liaise with major Defence suppliers to monitor inventory delivery, resolve issues and ensure equipment meets the required quality standards.
  • Support the development of programme support artefacts and contribute to the Through Life Management Plan (TLMP).
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory efficiency and reduce through-life costs, providing input into contractual and commercial arrangements.
  • Contribute to assurance reviews and audits of major contracts, providing inventory data, analysis and supporting evidence.
  • Develop guidance and support knowledge transfer to improve inventory-management processes and practices.

  • Experience of asset replacement, obsolescence management and through-life equipment support.
  • Ability to interpret technical and operational requirements and translate them into practical inventory plans.
  • Experience reviewing inventory costs, supplier proposals and supporting commercial or contract-assurance activities.
  • Strong understanding of inventory forecasting, stock control, supply-chain risks and inventory data management.
  • Experience working with major equipment suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering, logistics and commercial teams.
