Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cupar for an Experienced Sliding Head Programmer and Operator.
The role involves programming and operating Star sliding head lathes to produce precision components to tight tolerances and customer specifications.
Day-to-day tasks include Programming, Setting up machines, selecting appropriate tooling, optimizing machining processes, and monitoring production quality.
The individual will interpret engineering drawings, work closely with inspection personnel to ensure compliance with quality standards, and perform routine maintenance checks on equipment.
The role also includes collaborating with the wider CNC team, identifying process improvements, and supporting efficient workflow within the machining and finishing areas.
Any Applicants Must be able to commute to Cupar, Fife.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills relevant to CNC and automated machining environments.
- Candidates should possess skills in Computer Science and Software Development to support machine control, process optimization, and integration with CAD CAM systems.
- Proven experience programming and operating sliding head CNC lathes (preferably Star) in a precision engineering or similar environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, use precision measuring instruments, and work to tight tolerances.
- Experience with CAD CAM software and CNC controls, along with a solid understanding of machining processes and materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality standards such as BS EN ISO 9001.
- Relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent industry experience.
