We are supporting a major energy infrastructure project in the Caithness region and are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to join the civil delivery team. This role involves overseeing onshore works associated with a large-scale HVDC cable installation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for long-term, stable work on a major national infrastructure project with a well-respected contractor.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site civil activities including trenching, duct installation, backfilling, reinstatement and temporary works.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with approved RAMS, drawings, and specifications.
- Oversee subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring productivity and quality.
- Liaise daily with the Site Manager, fellow supervisors, and HSEQ teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with project HSEQ requirements.
- Deliver toolbox talks, daily briefings, and monitor RAMS implementation.
- Identify hazards, raise observations, and encourage open reporting.
- Monitor quality of civil works and duct installation, ensuring tolerances and alignment meet project standards.
- Carry out inspections, sign off completed works, and coordinate testing.
- Maintain daily diaries, progress records, and update trackers (materials, plant, labour).
- Support short-term planning and preparation of as-built information.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role within civil engineering or utilities.
- Experience in linear civils essential; duct installation experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of civil works, reinstatement, and quality standards.
- Competent with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
- CSCS Supervisor/Manager card
- First Aid at Work (preferred)
- Relevant civil engineering qualification (desirable)
- HSG47 training (preferred)
