Logistics Manager – Major Transmission Infrastructure Projects Northern Scotland | £350–£400 per day + Expenses | Mid-August Start Our client, a busy and well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of current and upcoming work across the UK energy and infrastructure sectors, is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to support a portfolio of major transmission cable installation projects across Northern Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional with experience in heavy transport, abnormal loads, infrastructure projects, transmission works or major construction logistics to play a key role on complex and high-profile projects. The Role Working from project offices in Perth and Inverness, alongside regular site visits, you will take ownership of all logistics activities associated with multiple transmission cable installation projects, including: Transportation of cable drums weighing up to 80 tonnes Heavy plant and equipment movements Abnormal and special load logistics Storage, laydown and material handling operations Coordination of road, marine and quayside logistics activities What You'll Be Responsible For: Developing and maintaining Logistics Management Plans and transportation strategies Managing logistics interfaces with subcontractors, suppliers and transport providers Producing integrated logistics schedules, forecasts and look-ahead plans Coordinating transportation, lifting operations, warehousing and material management activities Managing personnel movement, plant, equipment and site logistics facilities Overseeing storage requirements, preservation programmes and spare parts management Planning and coordinating road, marine, heavy haulage and abnormal load transportation Developing port, quayside and site logistics arrangements Managing traffic management, access planning and transport routing Ensuring compliance with HSE, security and project-specific logistics requirements Leading logistics assurance activities, inspections and certification reviews Producing logistics reports and progress updates for project stakeholders Abnormal Load Management A key aspect of the role will involve planning and managing abnormal and special load movements, including: Route surveys and route assessments Permit applications and approvals Bridge assessments Stakeholder engagement and coordination Police Scotland notifications Escort planning and management Liaison with Local Authorities and Transport Scotland You will act as the primary logistics focal point between project teams, contractors, suppliers, transport providers, ports, clients and regulatory bodies. Qualifications Logistics & Supply Chain Management Transport Management Construction Management SMSTS and CSCS would be advantageous  Essential Experience STGO (Special Types General Order) and abnormal load planning Heavy haulage route assessments Escort planning and abnormal load coordination Logistics management on large-scale construction or installation projects Permit applications and stakeholder management Coordination with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities and Police Scotland Transport engineering awareness and lifting operations IT Skills Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Microsoft Project PDF and DWG drawing review software Digital reporting, scheduling and logistics management systems What's on Offer? £350–£400 per day Expenses paid in line with company policy Mid-August start Opportunity to work on major transmission infrastructure projects across Scotland Long-term prospects with a well-established contractor delivering a growing pipeline of work If this sounds like you, please apply here, or call (phone number removed) for a confidential chat.
