Environmental & Sustainability Advisor

Location: Glasgow

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Working: Office-based with travel to sites

We are working with a leading civil engineering business to recruit an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join their Glasgow team.

This is a varied role supporting environmental, carbon and sustainability requirements across civil engineering projects, working closely with project teams, site personnel, suppliers and subcontractors.

Duties Include :

β€’ Carbon and energy reporting, including GHG Protocol

β€’ Assessing the carbon and environmental impact of construction materials

β€’ Environmental compliance across civil engineering projects

β€’ Preparing CEMPs, Pollution Prevention Plans and Habitat Management Plans

β€’ Waste management, pollution prevention and protected species

β€’ Supporting SEPA regulatory requirements, authorisations and licensing

β€’ Environmental performance and due diligence across the supply chain

β€’ Assessing suppliers against environmental, ethical trading, governance, modern slavery and social value criteria

β€’ Environmental reporting, data analysis and continuous improvement

β€’ Site visits, inspections and providing practical environmental advice to project teams

About You:

β€’ Experience working on or supporting civil engineering projects

β€’ Strong knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to construction

β€’ Experience with carbon and energy reporting

β€’ Knowledge of the GHG Protocol

β€’ Experience preparing environmental documentation, particularly CEMPs and Pollution Prevention Plans

β€’ Knowledge of SEPA requirements and environmental permitting/licensing

β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

β€’ Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

β€’ The ability to work independently and use your own initiative

β€’ Strong communication skills and a practical, site-focused approach

β€’ A willingness to travel to project sites as required

Civil engineering experience is essential, with experience working within a project or site environment highly desirable.
