I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Tier 1 construction contractor delivering a range of building projects across the Tayside region. This is a senior leadership position offering the opportunity to take full operational responsibility across multiple live projects, working closely with commercial, design, and site delivery teams.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operational delivery of projects, ensuring safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved. You will provide leadership across project teams and act as a key interface between site operations, clients, consultants and senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with customers, clients and design teams throughout project lifecycle
- Provide leadership and support to Project Managers, Site Managers and support staff
- Identify training needs and support development in line with company training matrix
- Develop, monitor and drive the main logic of works programmes on a weekly basis
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and comply with current legislation
- Lead and support safety investigations alongside the Health & Safety Manager
- Assist in the preparation of Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Safety Plans in line with CDM Regulations (Principal Contractor duties)
- Work closely with the Commercial Director and Senior Quantity Surveyors to provide input into CVR reports and financial performance
- Attend and present at Board and senior management meetings when required
- Prepare and present operational updates for monthly management reporting
- Attend and contribute to monthly CVR meetings alongside SQS and commercial teams
- Represent the business at monthly client site meetings
- Expedite design information and ensure design meetings are properly held, minuted, and actions closed out
- Provide input into buildability, programming, methodology and cost planning during feasibility and delivery stages
- Manage all project correspondence across allocated schemes
- Identify, report and mitigate contractual and commercial risk to regional leadership
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced construction professional with strong leadership capability and a proven track record in operational delivery.
You will ideally have:
- A Construction or Civil Engineering degree or significant relevant industry experience
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice, with good first aid awareness
- Demonstrable experience leading and managing large multidisciplinary teams
- Membership of CIOB or ICE (preferred)
- CEng and ILM qualifications (desirable)
- Strong commercial awareness with experience working closely with quantity surveying teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
