Our client is a leading specialist in the restoration and enhancement of concrete structures, including bridges, wind turbines, tunnels, aqueducts, and listed buildings. Working with a broad range of clients – including main contractors, subcontractors, and end clients – this role offers the opportunity to be involved in a diverse portfolio of projects. They are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates from first principles, assessing both project requirements and potential risks. Working closely with senior management, you will play a key role in developing competitive bids and securing future contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out tender risk management procedures
  • Prepare subcontract and materials enquiries, including analysis of received quotations
  • Manage and administer tender documentation registration and control
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive and best-value pricing
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities during the tender stage
  • Lead the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission
  • Maintain the CRM system, including allocation of tender numbers and distribution of documentation
  • Prepare detailed cost plans and assess contract budgets
  • Manage tenders from initial enquiry through to receipt of orders
  • Develop and agree comprehensive packages with end clients
  • Undertake take-offs from drawings and prepare cost-effective tenders from first principles
  • Analyse and price project risks appropriately
  • Produce high-quality tender submission documents and estimation reports
  • Support proposal development and liaise with the contract management team
  • Oversee estimating activities across multiple live and upcoming projects
  • Collaborate regularly with project managers and site teams to ensure alignment
Candidate Requirements
  • A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a similar estimating role
  • Demonstrable ability to price from first principles and develop accurate cost plans
  • Substantial estimating experience within the civil engineering sector
  • Strong understanding of frameworks and negotiated contracts
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Conquest and digital take-off tools
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Full UK Driving Licence
