We are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established and highly regarded civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for their commercial team in Ayrshire. This contractor has a long-standing presence in the Scottish civil engineering market and is known for delivering high-quality infrastructure and roadworks projects across the region. With a strong reputation, stable leadership, and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they offer an excellent environment for long-term career development.
As Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with senior management and operational teams to maintain high commercial standards across projects, providing sound advice on contractual and financial matters while ensuring robust cost control.
Key Responsibilities:- Preparation and management of Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Maximising valuations and ensuring timely certification and payment
- Prompt management and agreement of contract variations
- Forecasting costs and values across all trades
- Procuring labour, materials, and subcontractors in collaboration with site teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Monitoring site progress and issuing contractual notices in line with procedures
- Reviewing and vetting quotations to ensure best value while meeting specifications
- Preparation and agreement of Final Accounts
- Accurate and proactive management of subcontractor accounts to optimise commercial performance
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within civil engineering, ideally including roads or infrastructure projects
- Experience working with NEC contracts is advantageous, though not essential; strong understanding of complex forms of contract is required
- Methodical approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Full, valid UK driving licence
