The Opportunity
You'll play a key role in driving safety, compliance, and best practice on a significant project currently in its site set-up phase, with main works commencing soon. The project will involve multiple subcontractors on site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee and develop junior Health & Safety Officers, bringing strong guidance and construction expertise—particularly from a civil engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor on-site Health & Safety team members
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust H&S systems and procedures
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
- Deliver safety briefings, training, and toolbox talks
- Work closely with project and site teams to embed a strong safety culture
About You
- Proven experience in Health & Safety within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and guide junior staff
- Experience working with civil engineering contractors is desirable
- NEBOSH qualification
- Solid understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Confident communicator with a proactive, hands-on approach
