Contract Personnel are currently recruiting for a Yard person for a mill in the Norfolk area. The role will include being trained up as a Mill Operative to work on a full time basis in an active Mill. Own transport is essential due to site location. The successful applicant will be self driven, hard working and looking to learn and commit to the long term needs of the buisness.
Duties will include
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products using forklifts, loaders, pallet trucks or by hand
- Maintain organized and safe storage of materials in the yard
- Assist in moving materials to and from processing areas
- Perform general yard cleanup and ensure a tidy, hazard-free work environment
- Conduct basic maintenance and safety checks on yard equipment
- Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and environmental procedures
- Assist with inventory counts and recordkeeping as needed
- Communicate effectively with mill operators, truck drivers, and supervisors
Previous skills and experience
- Previous use of FLT\'s (licence not essential but experience is a must)
- Engineering knowledge/background would be a distinct advantage
- Computer literate, with advanced English and Maths
- Must be physically fit and no fear of heights. The mill has a large number of stairs which have to be climbed regularly.
- Good Housekeeping. There is a constant flow of lorries tipping and loading on the site.
- Knowledge and respect of Health & Safety rules.
- Able to work on own initiative and follow and give clear instructions.
- Ideal candidate will be looking for a position where they can have longevity, this is a permanent role.
Shift pattern:
- Monday to Friday (Alternate Saturdays)
