We are working with a well-established and growing business in the Bury St Edmunds area, who are looking to appoint a part-time Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive accounts department, reporting directly into the Finance Manager. This role offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to get involved in both day-to-day transactional finance work and month-end processes.

The Role

  • Working within the accounts department, you will take responsibility for both purchase and sales ledger functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all financial records.
  • Your key duties will include:
    • Managing the purchase ledger from start to finish
    • Matching purchase invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
    • Inputting purchase invoices onto internal MIS systems and Sage
    • Overseeing goods-in receipt processes
    • Managing the sales ledger, including raising sales invoices and allocating receipts
    • Credit control and debtor management
    • Assisting with sales reporting for the Finance Manager
    • Supporting the preparation of month-end accounts

About You

  • The ideal candidate will bring:
    • AAT Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
    • Minimum 2 years experience working in an accounts/finance environment
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively
    • Confidence using Microsoft Office and accounting systems (including Sage)
    • A proactive approach with a genuine desire to maintain accurate ledgers
    • Experience within the print industry is beneficial but not essential
