Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering team, designing and developing bespoke automated machinery used by customers worldwide. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, taking ownership of projects and seeing designs progress from concept through to manufacture.

The Role

  • You'll be responsible for the design, development and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and components, working closely with manufacturing, suppliers and customers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Designing and developing mechanical assemblies and components using 2D/3D CAD.
    • Producing accurate engineering drawings and documentation.
    • Supporting new product development from concept through to production.
    • Troubleshooting design and machine issues, identifying root causes and implementing improvements.
    • Building and testing prototypes.
    • Working collaboratively with manufacturing, suppliers and customers to resolve technical challenges.
    • Supporting engineering change projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Participating in risk assessments and design reviews.

About You

  • We're looking for someone who has:
    • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
    • Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
    • Strong 2D/3D CAD skills (SolidWorks experience advantageous).
    • Experience designing industrial or automated machinery.
    • Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
