Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer operating within a design-to-manufacture environment. As part of continued growth and investment, they are creating their first dedicated Manufacturing Engineer position to support operational performance, process improvement and future manufacturing capability.
This is a highly shop floor-focused role, acting as a key link between Engineering and Production. The successful individual will spend the majority of their time within the manufacturing environment identifying opportunities for improvement, supporting production teams and driving efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities- Drive manufacturing process improvements across production operations
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery and cost
- Analyse production performance and implement efficiency and productivity improvements
- Lead root cause analysis activities and support the resolution of manufacturing issues
- Reduce waste, rework and non-value-added activity across manufacturing processes
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, ensuring robust and efficient production processes are established from launch
- Work closely with Design and Engineering teams to improve manufacturability and support design-for-manufacture principles
- Support process validation, production trials and implementation of new manufacturing methods
- Identify tooling, equipment and layout improvements to enhance operational performance
- Act as a key operational stakeholder within the manufacturing environment, building strong relationships across Production and Engineering
- Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer or Production Engineer
- Background within fabrication, heavy engineering or a comparable manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting process improvement, continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives
- Exposure to NPI, product introduction or design-to-manufacture environments would be advantageous
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, shop floor-focused role
- Able to engage effectively with operators, supervisors and management teams
- Practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach
