We are recruiting for a Junior Production Planner to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Redditch. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an A-Level leaver, recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their career who is interested in developing within production planning and supply chain. You do not need to already be an experienced Production Planner. This is very much a learn-on-the-job role, working alongside and supporting an experienced Senior Production Planner who will help you develop your understanding of planning, manufacturing and supply chain. For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to develop into a fully-fledged Production Planner as your knowledge and experience grows.

The Role

  • Working closely with the Senior Production Planner, you will learn how to plan and coordinate production within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Your responsibilities will develop over time and include:
    • Supporting the creation and maintenance of production plans and schedules.
    • Updating production information within the company's ERP/MRP system.
    • Monitoring orders and tracking their progress through manufacturing.
    • Helping identify material shortages, capacity issues and potential production delays.
    • Liaising with Production, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Engineering teams.
    • Supporting the Senior Planner with day-to-day planning activities.
    • Maintaining accurate planning and production data.
    • Learning how customer demand, materials, capacity and manufacturing processes come together to create an achievable production plan.
    • Developing your knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and wider supply chain processes.
    • Taking on greater planning responsibility as your experience develops.

About You

We're primarily looking for someone with the right attitude, aptitude and interest in building a career within manufacturing and supply chain. You could be:

  • An A-Level leaver looking for your first career opportunity.
  • A recent graduate, particularly from a business, supply chain, engineering, logistics or similar degree.
  • Someone already working within manufacturing who wants to move into a planning or supply chain position.
  • In an administrative or coordination role and looking for a more structured career path.

Previous experience within a manufacturing environment or exposure to ERP/MRP systems would be desirable, but isn't essential. More importantly, you will be organised, comfortable working with data and systems, able to communicate with different teams and genuinely interested in understanding how a manufacturing business operates.

This is a fully onsite position in Redditch, giving you direct exposure to the manufacturing operation and the opportunity to learn from experienced people across Production, Planning, Purchasing and Supply Chain. For someone looking to start a career in production planning or supply chain, this is an opportunity to learn the role properly and build towards increased responsibility and progression.
