We're supporting a growing manufacturing business in the search for a Senior Design Engineer to play a key role across product design, manufacturing improvement and customer delivery. This is a hands-on position where you'll lead a Junior Design Engineer while working closely with Operations, Production and Sales to ensure designs are both commercially viable and readily manufacturable. You'll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, helping to bridge the gap between customer requirements and practical manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a Junior Design Engineer.
  • Produce and develop mechanical designs, drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Work closely with Operations and Production to improve manufacturability and reduce production challenges.
  • Collaborate with Sales to support customer enquiries, quotations and technical discussions.
  • Drive continuous improvement within existing products and processes.
  • Support product development activities from concept through to manufacture.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders on technical matters.
  • Ensure designs meet quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Person Specification:

  • Mechanical engineering design background within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience.
  • Experience taking products from design through to manufacture.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Operations, Production and Sales teams.
  • Ability to identify and implement design improvements that enhance manufacturability.
  • Previous experience mentoring, supervising or managing junior engineers would be advantageous.
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills.
