Continuum Economics is an independent financial market and macro strategy research provider with offices in London, New York and Singapore and more than 300 financial institutions subscribing to its research. We are looking for a macroeconomist to be part of our economics team, mainly focused on the Eurozone and UK. The successful candidate will primarily produce written and graphical analysis on key regional economic and policy developments in select European countries and should play the key role in helping to formulate such analysis. The role would suit a macroeconomist who has been closely involved in analysing and/or forecasting regional economies for around two to five years.

Key responsibilities:

  • Idea generation for clients and interaction with colleagues: Producing a steady stream of short-term to medium-term thematic analysis on key regional economies (e.g. Eurozone, UK).
  • Ongoing forecasting of key economic indicators and policy rates, alongside contributing to the quarterly Outlook and ad-hoc articles with respect to the key countries and DM in general.
  • Address client queries relating to the region and forecasts.

Key skills and attributes:

  • The successful candidate will have sound economic knowledge, particularly of macro and policy making, and excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Degree or Masters in Economics.
  • Prior experience of forecasting key economic variables and policy.
  • Excellent written English and verbal communication is required, including the ability to explain economic concepts and their implications to non-specialists and tailor them to client needs.
  • Proficient user of MS Office, particularly Excel.
