CI Projects is a boutique business consultancy committed to helping businesses continuously improve by enabling the true convergence of people, processes and technology. We work closely with clients to define the issue, the destination and how to get there – and then provide the tools and confidence so they can keep improving long after we’ve gone.

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Partner & Architect to play a key role in shaping technology solutions and architecture across a complex and evolving business environment. This is an opportunity to act as the trusted technical partner to senior business stakeholders, providing architectural leadership, technical oversight and strategic direction across a portfolio of programmes, bids and transformation initiatives. If you enjoy translating business needs into practical technology solutions, influencing senior stakeholders and providing hands‑on architectural leadership across modern technology landscapes, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Role Overview

As the Technical Partner & Architect, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end solution architecture and technical ownership within a secure business sector. Working closely with operational leadership teams, programme stakeholders, delivery partners and engineering teams, you will define solution architectures, shape technology roadmaps and ensure all solutions align with wider enterprise architecture principles. This role combines strategic architecture, technical leadership and stakeholder engagement. You will act as the bridge between business priorities and technical delivery, ensuring solutions are commercially viable, architecturally robust and capable of supporting long‑term organisational objectives. You will also provide technical oversight of third‑party delivery partners, contribute to bid and tender activities, support governance processes and help drive the adoption of architectural standards, integration patterns and engineering best practice across the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own solution architecture across multiple programmes and technology workstreams within your assigned sector.
  • Define and maintain target‑state architectures, technology roadmaps and solution designs aligned to enterprise strategy.
  • Act as the primary technical advisor to business leaders, translating operational and commercial requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Provide technical oversight and challenge to third‑party suppliers, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed architectural principles and standards.
  • Review solution designs, integration approaches, deployment strategies and technical implementations to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support bids, tenders and commercial opportunities by developing architecturally sound and deliverable technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, architects and stakeholders to maintain consistency across the wider technology estate.
  • Lead architecture governance activities and contribute to Design Authority reviews and decision‑making forums.
  • Produce high‑quality architectural artefacts, solution documentation, options assessments and technical recommendations.
  • Support emerging technology initiatives, including cloud, data, integration and AI‑enabled solutions.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or senior technology leader with significant architecture responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of solution architecture, enterprise architecture and modern technology delivery practices.
  • Experience designing solutions across cloud platforms, integrations, APIs, data platforms and digital services.
  • Ability to provide technical oversight and challenge to delivery partners and suppliers.
  • Experience contributing to bids, tenders and commercial technology proposals.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience working within complex, multi‑programme or enterprise‑scale environments.
  • Strong understanding of governance, architecture standards and technology assurance processes.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to align technology decisions with business outcomes.
  • Experience within regulated, operationally complex or federated organisations would be advantageous.

How to prepare for a job interview at Continuous Improvement Projects Ltd

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
