Job Description
The main function of the role is the provision of product development activities to the IEMEA Marine hose range to help meet company targets for growth and profitability. Carry out design activities to support existing marine hose business. Coordinate production trials up to verified and approved design.
Areas of Responsibility / Main Tasks
- Development of Marine Hose business – Carry out Fluid Handling Product Development projects for textile and steel reinforced hoses.
- Provide support to other functions & departments as a Product Development team member.
- Exchange know how throughout regional and global locations.
- Issuance of technical datasheets as well as design / specification ownership towards manufacturing plants.
- Hose Development – Develop hose, fittings and assembly specifications to define materials and process steps for building prototypes and final products for textile and steel reinforced marine hose.
- Perform local and global analysis of hoses and systems to support the business orders and opportunities.
- Define and specify tooling as required.
- Develop and customise hose constructions to improve hose functionality and performance.
- Define the materials for producing sample hose, fittings and assemblies to fulfill the project/customer requirement.
- Project Plan – Ensure project plans are defined to reach the Product Development project targets.
- Assess product requests from PLC with feasibility studies.
- Support of Application Engineering, PPI, Operations and Quality departments to satisfy PLC requirements.
- Product Launch and Localization Support – Work with MPE / PPI to ensure a successful product launch and stable production process (low scrap rate, robust product data).
- Coordinate with controller for cost calculations.
- Provide support to evaluate processability, sample production scrap rate, and sample quality.
- Support of localization activities (materials-R&D and processes-PPI).
- Design Verification Plan / Product Audit plan – Define DFMEA and product DVP to meet the project requirement book and develop test plans and procedures.
- Define procedures for requalification plan (audit plan).
- Supplier Development – Work with Technology and Purchasing to define specifications and test procedures for raw material suppliers.
- Assist in the development of new alternative material suppliers.
- Product Testing – Define necessary new test methods to check product quality.
- Organize the prototype testing by labs.
- Evaluate the test results, documentation of test results for discussion with application engineering and/or customer.
- Benchmark testing of competitive product.
