An established Managed Services Provider is seeking an experienced VMware Platform Engineer to join its infrastructure team on a 6-month fixed term contract. This is a hands-on role supporting and maintaining VMware-based platforms across private and public cloud environments. You'll be responsible for ensuring high levels of availability, performance and service delivery, while providing expert 3rd line support and contributing to ongoing platform improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 3rd line support for VMware infrastructure and cloud platforms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support and maintain VMware ESXi and vCentre environments.
  • Ensure platforms operate in line with agreed service levels.
  • Follow ITIL-based incident, problem and change management processes.
  • Identify and implement service improvements.
  • Carry out upgrades, patching and maintenance activities.
  • Support customer installations and infrastructure projects.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Work closely with internal teams to deliver high-quality customer solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong VMware ESXi and vCentre administration skills.
  • Experience working within a Managed Services, support or consultancy environment.
  • Experience supporting virtualised infrastructure in production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of server deployment, management and monitoring.
  • Experience with Dell EMC and/or HPE server platforms.
  • Good understanding of LAN and WAN networking.
  • Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
