Our client, a growing Managed Services Provider (MSP), is looking to recruit a Field Engineer to support a diverse customer base across Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on IT professional who enjoys a mix of remote support and on-site customer engagement. Initially, the role will be split between 2nd Line Service Desk support and field-based engineering work, with the expectation that the position will become increasingly customer-site focused as the organisation continues to expand its presence across the region.
Working as part of a busy MSP support team, you will provide a combination of remote and on-site technical support to customers across Buckinghamshire, including Aylesbury, Thame, Milton Keynes and surrounding areas, with travel to London once per month.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing 2nd Line technical support via the service desk
- Troubleshooting hardware, software and end-user issues
- Building, configuring and deploying laptops and desktops
- Diagnosing and resolving device failures and hardware faults
- Carrying out on-site support visits and technical call-outs
- Supporting Microsoft 365 environments and core infrastructure technologies
- Delivering a high level of customer service to both technical and non-technical users
- Assisting with proactive maintenance and customer IT improvements
- Escalating more complex issues where appropriate and working collaboratively with wider technical teams
Experience required:
- Previous experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
- Strong 2nd Line Support experience
- Experience troubleshooting Windows desktop and laptop issues
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
- Experience with Azure and cloud technologies
- Experience setting up, rebuilding and supporting end-user devices
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
- Excellent customer-facing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage field-based responsibilities
- Previous experience delivering on-site support across multiple customer environments
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
