We’re looking for a highly capable and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing Operations team. If you’re passionate about data performance, automation, and availability, and want to support some of the most critical services in the UK and beyond, we’d love to hear from you.

What we are looking for…

We’re seeking a talented and experienced Database Administrator with a strong background in SQL Server and PostgreSQL, who can help manage and optimise complex database systems at scale. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of Content Guru’s data infrastructure, contributing to the resilience of our global services.

This role is based at our head office in Bracknell, Berkshire.

Key responsibilities of the role…

Database Design, Maintenance & Support

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available database systems
  • Provide third-line support for database incidents and issues
  • Collaborate with other teams to support application deployment and integration

Performance Tuning & Optimisation

  • Monitor and improve database performance across mission-critical environments
  • Tune queries, manage indexes, and analyse workloads for optimisation
  • Provide guidance and support during performance-impacting events

Automation & Innovation

  • Develop and maintain automated processes for provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, and backup
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD initiatives within the team
  • Drive continuous improvement in database operations and deployment strategies

Backup, Recovery & Security

  • Lead efforts to implement and test backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Secure data systems in line with internal standards and industry best practices
  • Work closely with our security team to maintain compliance across all systems

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work with Infrastructure, Development, and Support teams to ensure smooth data operations
  • Contribute technical insights to project discussions and platform evolution
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment

About You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a STEM subject, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a database administration or infrastructure-focused role
  • Deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments
  • Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python) and experience with automation tools
  • Good understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and security best practices
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. Elasticsearch, Redis) is desirable
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC2, PCI, or FedRAMP is a plus
