Contek Recruitment are working with a well-established and highly respected engineering manufacturer in the North West, who are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer & Operator to join their growing team. With over three decades of experience delivering bespoke special-purpose machinery and precision-engineered solutions across a wide range of industries, our client has built a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service. All manufacturing processes are completed in-house, from design and fabrication through to assembly and testing.

Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Producing high-quality components from detailed engineering drawings.
- Machining fabricated components and assemblies to tight tolerances.
- Working with a range of materials, including exotic-grade alloys.
- Selecting appropriate tooling, work-holding methods, and machining strategies.
- Ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to the ongoing development of the manufacturing department.
Essential Requirements
- Time-served machinist with post-qualification experience in a precision engineering environment.
- Ability to program HAAS and/or Heidenhain controls.
- Experience using CAD/CAM programming software.
- Proven background machining fabricated components.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, work-holding techniques, and cutting strategies.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and Quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience using Fusion 360 software.
- Knowledge of other CNC manufacturing processes such as waterjet cutting, laser cutting, or CNC turning.
- Basic CAD design experience.
- Forklift Truck licence/certification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £18.97 per hour (depending on experience).
- Overtime available and paid at 1.5x standard rate.
- 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays.

Working Hours
- 37-hour standard week
- Monday - Thursday: 07:30 - 16:00 (30-minute lunch break)
