Contek have formed a fantastic partnership with a client in Reading who specialise in the manufacture of high-volume and small-batch precision components for sectors including fluid power, medical, and specialist automotive. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Wickman Auto Setter (or someone with experience setting similar multi-spindle / cam-operated machinery) to join their skilled production team. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical ability and a proactive approach to maintaining quality and efficiency on the shop floor. This is a position based on a 40-hour working week and an early finish on a Friday.
Role Overview
- Set and operate Wickman multi-spindle machines (or similar cam-driven / multi-spindle equipment).
- Carry out tooling changes, machine set-ups, and adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, ensuring components are produced to required tolerances.
- Monitor production output and maintain high levels of quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with the Quality team to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.
- Maintain a safe and organised working environment.
