HGV Technician Location:

£22.00 per hour (dependent on experience) + Overtime An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified HGV Technician to join an established, expanding commercial vehicle repair and transport operation in Bridgwater. Supporting an in-house fleet of lorry-mounted cranes alongside an active client base of over 120 third-party HGVs and LCVs, this role offers steady work, modern variety, and immediate start availability. Key Responsibilities Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, maintenance, and diagnostics on a wide range of HGVs and LCVs.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults, completing repairs efficiently to high industry standards.
Prepare vehicles for annual MOT tests.
Ensure all maintenance paperwork and compliance documentation are accurately completed.
Requirements & Qualifications Qualification:
NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent qualification) is required.
Proven experience working as an HGV Technician/Mechanic.
Experience with lorry-mounted cranes or specialized hydraulic systems is an advantage.
A strong work ethic, team-oriented mindset, and reliable approach to diagnostic troubleshooting.
Full UK Driving License (Class 1 / HGV license is beneficial but not essential).
Working Hours & Benefits Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00 (47.5 paid standard hours per week after deducting a 30-minute lunch break; includes a paid 20-minute mid-morning break).
Overtime:
Paid at Time-and-a-Half (1.5x) for any hours worked over 47.5 hours per week, including occasional Saturday morning shifts when required.
Pay Rate:
Competitive rate between £18.00 and £22.00 per hour (£44,460 - £54,340) negotiable based on experience and skills.
Holidays:
20 days paid holiday plus 8 public Bank Holidays.
Pension:
