HGV Technician Location: Puriton, Bridgwater (Somerset) Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Pay Rate: £18.00 – £22.00 per hour (dependent on experience) + Overtime paid at 1.5x An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified HGV Technician to join an established, expanding commercial vehicle repair and transport operation in Bridgwater. Supporting an in-house fleet of lorry-mounted cranes alongside an active client base of over 120 third-party HGVs and LCVs, this role offers steady work, modern variety, and immediate start availability. Key Responsibilities * Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, maintenance, and diagnostics on a wide range of HGVs and LCVs. * Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults, completing repairs efficiently to high industry standards. * Prepare vehicles for annual MOT tests. * Ensure all maintenance paperwork and compliance documentation are accurately completed. Requirements & Qualifications * Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent qualification) is required. * Proven experience working as an HGV Technician/Mechanic. * Experience with lorry-mounted cranes or specialized hydraulic systems is an advantage. * A strong work ethic, team-oriented mindset, and reliable approach to diagnostic troubleshooting. * Full UK Driving License (Class 1 / HGV license is beneficial but not essential). Working Hours & Benefits * Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00 (47.5 paid standard hours per week after deducting a 30-minute lunch break; includes a paid 20-minute mid-morning break). * Overtime: Paid at Time-and-a-Half (1.5x) for any hours worked over 47.5 hours per week, including occasional Saturday morning shifts when required. * Pay Rate: Competitive rate between £18.00 and £22.00 per hour (£44,460 - £54,340) negotiable based on experience and skills. * Holidays: 20 days paid holiday plus 8 public Bank Holidays. * Pension: Company pension scheme provided. * Immediate Start: Role is available straight away for the right candidate.
