We are recruiting on behalf of a long-established precision engineering company in Washington, Tyne & Wear, seeking an experienced Hurco CNC Miller to join their skilled machining team. This is an excellent opportunity for a machinist who enjoys varied, technical work and producing high-accuracy components for sectors such as automotive, offshore, defence, renewables and general manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Milling – Setting, operating and programming Hurco CNC mills (WinMax control).
- Reading Drawings – Working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Tooling Setup – Selecting and setting tooling, fixtures and workholding.
- Quality Checks – Using micrometers, verniers and gauges for in-process and final inspection.
- Process Improvements – Adjusting feeds, speeds and offsets to maintain accuracy.
- Material Machining – Working with steels, alloys, aluminium and engineered plastics.
What We’re Looking For
- Hurco/WinMax experience (essential)
- Precision machining background with one-offs and small batches
- Strong understanding of machining principles and cutting data
- Confident using manual measuring equipment
- Reliable, quality-focused and able to work independently
Hours & Pay
- 38 hours per week – Monday to Friday
- £15.00/hr during probation
- £16.00/hr after successful probation
